OVERVIEW

Following this concept of the investigators responsible of formulating BIOTOPIX® PHOTO PROTECT® products have developed on the same bases two creams which offer strict protection against UVA, UVB, visible light and IR radiation, but also permit DNA repair, this latter being damaged by all these radiations.

BIOTOPIX® PHOTO PROTECT® cream SPF 30
and BIOTOPIX® PHOTO PROTECT® cream SPF 50+ include a combination of five chemical UV filters, and in SPF 50+ the formula is strengthened by the addition of Titanium Dioxide.


Over time, skin ages and loses its youthful appearance. Wrinkles appear around the eyes, fine lines bloom around the lips, and age spots surface on the hands. While some of these factors are natural and unavoidable, many of the visible signs of aging are caused by the sun, and can be avoided.

Actually, external factors that contribute to skin aging include mainly sun exposure and ultra-violet radiation (at 80% of cases).

Photo-aging refers to the changes in the skin that occur after prolonged exposure to outdoor agents, mainly UV irradiation, but also visible light and IR radiation. In ex vivo skin explants exposed to natural midday sunlight, in the presence of a set of filters, the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was provoked at 4% by UVB, 46% by UVA and 50% by visible light.

Hence, the latest innovation in sunscreen research is the development of complete spectrum sunscreen ingredients.

Full Spectrum Protection

Visible light Protection Properties

As a protector against visible light we have incorporated in our formula an original synthetic melanin. This synthetic, fractionated melanin is tailored to absorb in the violet/blue range of 400-500 nm.


Infrared Protection Properties

In BIOTOPIX PHOTO PROTECT® products we have opted for a biotechnical product obtained from the culture of Thermus Thermophilus. TT extract fights IR-induced damage: lessens the inflammatory conditions, improves hydration and maintains dermal architecture in order to limit wrinkle formation.


DNA Repair
The extract used in BIOTOPIX PHOTO PROTECT® products is an extract of the leaves of the candle bush which activates the cells self-defense system and thus reduces the extent of DNA damage by:

- Supporting the natural repairing capacity of the cell when necessary.
- Preventing fine lines and wrinkles due to UV exposure with an effect readily perceivable by the end user.
